Answers to life's burning questions

Is Saturn finally going?

Dear Astrology Room

My son's date of birth is 23/09/90 and mine is 22/07/53. We have had a very troubled two years, is this the effect of saturn, and is this influence nearly over?

Maud

Dear Maud

I think you've hit the nail pretty firmly on the head - Saturn being the root of your troubles over the past few years. As you'll remember, Saturn isn't just the 'bad penny' in the planetary line-up, he also brings 'growth' and maturity.  Saturn gives us a chance to respect who we truly are too, but often through a rather obscure and often crippling lens.

When we have a Saturn return - as you are having now - we have to learn to trust in outer reality as well as inner reality, to grow out of old patterns of behaviour and accept that Saturn is a bit like a midwife shouting at us to 'push' while we, the innocent 'mother to be', jut can't push any harder than we are already pushing, and that bloody well hurts.

Then, suddenly, something magical happens, and we give birth, and a voice seemingly far away, says, 'didn't you do well, why not have a cup of tea dear?' - the midwife, uncannily knows she had a major part to play in the birth not only of your child, but of the renaissance of ourself.

Similarly Saturn, believes that without his rigorous, persistent pushing and pulling at your emotions and physical well-being, you aren't going to get very far. So a lesson is being taught, a hard one. Your son, has a 'cuspy' sun just edging into Libra - I would need time of birth to confirm that he's definitely a Libra - but Saturn has been punishing all early Librans and late Virgos for several years. Forcing them to 'grow up' to understand that life isn't just about playing fair or keeping things ship shape (the latter being Virgo), but accepting that you have to fight for the fair and beautiful, and protect the ship's cleaner, if everything is to sail perfectly away.

So, yes, you can point the finger of blame at Saturn - not so much because the planet is 'doing' it to you personally, more that this energy is invoked by some universal or divine power. So Saturn too, must bow to this force, and blow his gale of hopes and despairs in our direction. Yet the time will pass, and as Saturn passes slowly it may seem like forever, but it will change for you both. I'm not going to give you the old line, 'oh, any time now it will be OK'. No, the OK time will be at a time when you are ready to move out of the 'trap' you believe yourself to be in. It takes courage and a good cup of midwifery tea to say, 'I did it, I gave birth' (and I'm sure you'll remember how that was for you personally). But in the next six months, truly, the energy will begin to change for the better and you can give birth again to a new you and your son will be better for it too.

With very best wishes, and let the light of the universe shine through you every day

Sarah

Dear Sarah

Thank you for your answer to my question, which struck a cord with me and has given me food for thought.
