Your career horoscope for the week commencing 15th January by Peter Watson.
ARIES Mar 21 - Apr 20
How many times have you asked yourself why you continue to slog away at a job or in an area which holds little interest for you? Perhaps you put it down to your own mood or general dissatisfaction with the way things are. Or is there something fundamentally wrong with the way in which you spend your time or make a living? These are important questions. And a New Moon hovering over a decisive point in your chart suggests it’s time to confront a situation that’s been far from perfect for some while. You don’t have to get up and walk out. But you do need to think about what does and does not provide you with a sense of fulfilment as well as bring in whatever material rewards you need in order to feel comfortable.
TAURUS Apr 21 – May 21
Face the fact that you’ve sometimes become quite disillusioned with the way in which an employer, workmate, peer or associate performs. Perhaps it’s something on a personal level that has left you feeling this individual is lacking in terms of certain skills and resources. Alternatively, it could be a professional or financial matter that’s caused you to doubt the way in which things have been handled recently. Whichever the case may be, you do need to take the lead. And capitalise on the way in which the Sun is moving into Aquarius and as it does so highlighting the area of your chart which shows you off at your most proactive, self-confident and effective. Try not to see yourself as a potential troublemaker but instead as someone who genuinely wants what’s best for all concerned.
GEMINI May 22 - Jun 21
Focus on Neptune slowly making its way through a powerful area of your chart and forming a sharp link to the Sun, which happens to be in a position in your chart that governs partnerships and teamwork. This might help explain why you’ve had fairly high expectations of a certain person or persons with whom you had hopes of achieving or creating something interesting and worthwhile. But of course Neptune is now reminding you that it’s sometimes all too easy to become over-optimistic about people when you don’t really know the full story with regard to their track record, background or personal history. No-one’s suggesting that these people are about to cause huge problems but you do need to think carefully about whether or not they’re really equipped to help you achieve what you want.
CANCER Jun 22 - Jul 23
Time and again you’ve no doubt asked yourself why some of the people around you fail to come up with the goods or insist on causing problems when, as far as you’re concerned, it should be possible to do some good work together. What you perhaps haven’t thought about is whether you’ve been too harsh in the way in which you’ve judged them. Or do you perhaps lack empathy when they’re trying to explain what difficulties they’re having in terms of their professional or intensely personal lives? Venus moving into Aquarius urges you to consider your approach to relationships very carefully and ask yourself whether, with a few tweaks here and there, you can make others feel much more highly valued – and as a result more willing and able to work with and alongside you.
LEO Jul 24 - Aug 23
From time to time this week it might be difficult for you to steer clear of views or opinions offered by two or three people who genuinely care for you. The problem is that they don’t know or understand the terrain you’re dealing with nearly as well as you do. And the fact that Jupiter is linking up with Pluto might at times make you feel like stating very clearly that you really can’t cope with any more unwanted advice. Of course in your calmer moments you know that it would be quite wrong of you to be so blunt and potentially offensive. So if you do find yourself losing patience with friends or relatives, simply step away from the situation and give yourself a little bit of time out.
VIRGO Aug 24 - Sep 23
Any day now you may have to admit that you’ve allowed certain individuals to rely on you to do a lot of their donkey-work. You seem to have been involved in a situation which requires fairly constant attention to everyday, mundane responsibilities that nobody else will take on board. So being the helpful, efficient Virgoan that you are you’ve almost certainly found yourself filling in all the blanks and getting things done. Meanwhile, everybody else involved has been taking it easy somewhere else. The fact that this week the Sun begins to make its way through Aquarius and the section of your chart that governs self-care should help you see where you’ve been going wrong. And, more than that, it will encourage you to do something about it. Don’t be afraid to say enough’s enough.
LIBRA Sep 24 - Oct 23
People are likely to suggest you’re working too hard for too little money or too few rewards. Or perhaps one or two of them are encouraging you to wield whatever power you have within territory in which you are trying to achieve something impressive. What these individuals probably don’t realise is that you are trying not to rock the boat. Yes, you probably could challenge certain others who are suggesting that you’ve allowed yourself to become a bit of a pushover. But is it really worth the hassle, especially as Jupiter is colluding with Pluto to provide you with enough dynamism to do things vigorously and effectively? It would be wrong to waste any of your energy by getting caught up in a battle with those around you. Avoid it at all costs.
SCORPIO Oct 24 - Nov 22
At any other time it might feel perfectly okay for you to run around after some of your workmates or associates. This week, however, you’ll realise that you’re the one who needs support from people around you. This is not because you’re going into crisis or finding it impossible to get things done. But Uranus at right angles to the Moon early in the week is going to encourage you to access some of your deep-seated feelings about your role in life and how others sometimes take advantage of your good nature. If you’re typical of your sign you probably do keep quite a lot to yourself. Now is the time to work out what is going on in your heart and mind and decide how much you should disclose – and who to.
SAGITTARIUS Nov 23 - Dec 21
When it first occurs, the intrusion of someone trying to influence the way you earn or use your money will make you angry. However, this person might be talking good sense. The problem is that you won’t like being patronised or made to feel inept. But you’ll just have to get over it. With the New Moon in the highly-organised sign of Capricorn you should make a fresh start and get your books in order. See what a good job you can make of doing your sums and being absolutely clear about how much is coming in and how much is going out. And don’t be too proud to admit to whoever it is who has been trying to guide you that you were in need of some advice. And you’re grateful for it.
CAPRICORN Dec 22 - Jan 20
You’ve no doubt got back into your stride and are working away fairly normally after the end-of-year break. And you mustn’t be surprised if others decide that you have the time, space and energy to take on more work and commitments. Yes, this can be flattering. But it can also make you feel as though you are being put upon, especially if you’re worried that you’ll be overwhelmed by whatever commitments are coming your way. So let the fact that Venus is moving into Aquarius encourage you to evaluate very precisely whether or not it will pay you to accept greater responsibilities. Unless it is going to help you financially or in terms of your reputation or career you might well decide that it’s not worth increasing your workload right now. Only you can decide.
AQUARIUS Jan 21 - Feb 19
Perhaps having Mars charging through a very dynamic section of your chart means you’ve been able to apply yourself to projects or areas of work which at other times you’ve found quite daunting and off-putting. The outcome of this might well be that some of your peers, colleagues or perhaps even your employers are taking note of all that you’ve been doing and want to talk about it – possibly to pick your brains. Do remember that this week you’re feeling the impact of Mercury forming a sharp link with Mars and ensuring that you are very much on the ball if anyone starts asking awkward questions or trying to get even more out of you. You don’t have to be aggressive but you do have to be very clear-thinking – and take good care of yourself.
PISCES Feb 20 - Mar 20
Try not to be taken aback if a collection of people offer to step in and help you with tasks or commitments that have taken quite a lot out of you. Perhaps you’re not used to being given support in this way. And it could make you want to reject out of hand any such suggestion. You have to remember, however, that Uranus, the planet of surprises, is having a lot of influence on you this week as it forms a right angle to the Moon. This means that you’ll become rather over-sensitive and somewhat sceptical when even the most genuine individuals try to offer a helping hand. What you have to do is learn to take it at face value and not look for hidden agendas – because those concerned really don’t have any.
