Your career horoscope for the week beginning 18th December by Peter Watson.
ARIES Mar 21 - Apr 20
With Saturn changing signs and taking up a position within an extremely powerful sector of your chart, you may wonder what you are meant to do with this new-found sense of strength and influence as far as your work or profession might be concerned. Obviously you won’t want to be perceived as heavy-handed. But you might well decide that when it comes to one or two of your colleagues, peers or companions you are going to have to adopt more of a no-nonsense stance. As you reflect on one particular working relationship and the way in which it has impacted you in the past few weeks and months you probably will realise that it needs a few tweaks here and there. Just remember, you’re not out to change the entire world.
TAURUS Apr 21 – May 21
Time and again you must have wondered why you and a partner or workmate cannot see eye-to-eye when engaged with one another on contractual, professional or financial matters. As you reflect on this situation you’ll realise that this hasn’t always been the case. In fact, the more serious upsets or misunderstandings have taken place over the past two or three weeks while Mercury has been retrograde or appearing to move backwards through your chart. And this mischievous little planet continues to do this until Saturday 23 December when it appears to change direction and start moving forwards again. It won’t happen overnight but from this point onwards you should begin to feel that the two of you are able to negotiate even the most complicated matters in a far more positive and workable way.
GEMINI May 22 - Jun 21
At last you should be able to put dynamism and energy into work or projects which have ground to a halt recently. Or perhaps they haven’t run out of steam altogether but they have been slowing down, possibly because of a lack of interest on the part of yourself and the other people involved. The Sun entering Capricorn this week should provide you with a great deal of hope in terms of getting a partnership, business or shared enterprise to go full steam ahead once more. We’re talking here of course about the Capricorn ingress or the Winter Solstice when little by little chinks of light begin to appear within some of the darker corners of our lives. Tell yourself you’ve every reason to see this as the beginning of something new, exciting and fulfilling,
CANCER Jun 22 - Jul 23
Try not to listen to one or two rather critical, judgmental individuals who seem to be suggesting that your ways of working have become too unconventional, unorthodox and inconsistent. You’ll be feeling rather strongly that around this time change and innovation are absolutely essential, especially within areas in which things have become dull and lacklustre. Not only that but the fact that Venus is allied to Uranus means that you will have a very strong sense of what is or is not worth pursuing. After all, Venus is the planet of values. And it’s helping you access ideas and ways of thinking which are quite a long way removed from what other people have been doing recently. Remember, with Venus on your side, you’ll instinctively know what is going to pay off – probably rather handsomely.
LEO Jul 24 - Aug 23
Do you work too hard for too few rewards and too little recognition? It’s not about being given a huge bonus or a pat on the back every time you achieve anything significant. It’s more a case of some people failing to fully appreciate everything you do. And this week especially, as Venus enters the structured sign of Capricorn, you’ll want to tidy things up. For example, you’ll decide that one or two of these individuals need to get along without you rather more often. And although you don’t want a stand-up row you’ll withdraw from areas in which you do feel you’ve contributed a lot but don’t get much in return. Let Venus help you in a rather subtle way arrange things differently so that you no longer feel you’re being taken for granted.
VIRGO Aug 24 - Sep 23
There must have been times in the past when you have felt quite desperate about joint projects which don’t really take off in quite the way that you hope. You don’t want to apportion blame on the other people involved because you are reluctant to get caught up in squabbling or petty politics. This is why a very convenient connection being made between Uranus and Venus could be of enormous help to you this week. Uranus is still of course making its way through Aries which means it’s governing the section of your chart that’s linked to partnerships and shared endeavours. As a result you’ll feel inspired to find new solutions to old problems. And as Venus is involved you’ll try to do it in a way that’s peaceful but also extremely effective.
LIBRA Sep 24 - Oct 23
You’re about to become so jubilant about a work-related or financial deal that you’ll want to tell the entire world about it. But be wary because of the way in which one or two individuals might receive the news. There’s a possibility that they will think you’re boasting about what’s been achieved. And they might even wonder whether what you’re saying is meant to be something of a put-down as far as they are concerned. The fact that the Sun is forming a sharp link with Jupiter suggests that any slight ill-feeling could become grossly exaggerated within minutes. So do think very carefully about the way in which you present any news whatsoever about yourself and the way in which certain situations are panning out, especially if it’s all very much to your advantage.
SCORPIO Oct 24 - Nov 22
Like so many of us, you may look at your financial situation or whatever’s going on in the workplace and start wondering why it’s all gone ever-so-slightly wrong. Yes, it’s the time of year when some people overspend – and others go slightly off the boil in terms of their everyday responsibilities. Not to any great degree we hope, but the Christmas hustle and bustle makes us lose sight of money coming in and going out or the way in which we’re meant to handle commitments. You mustn’t accuse yourself of being irresponsible or reckless. Mercury’s been retrograde or moving backwards since 3 December and by the weekend when this mischievous little planet begins to move forwards again, you’ll see things more clearly and realise exactly where you do or do not need to make adjustments.
SAGITTARIUS Nov 23 - Dec 21
Someone whispering in your ear that you have become a little bit floppy when it comes to finances or aspects of your work merely has your well-being at heart. So don’t respond in an aggressive or over-defensive way. Instead, use this as an opportunity to take a look at how you’ve been handling certain areas and, where necessary, make adjustments. Saturn, the planet of structure and discipline, is leaving your sign and entering Capricorn, the sign that’s actually ruled by Saturn. It’s also an earth sign so you will begin to crave a sense of everything having a secure base to it and wanting all the loose ends to be tied up very neatly. All of which is fine provided you don’t go too far and make yourself and everybody else miserable in the process.
CAPRICORN Dec 22 - Jan 20
What a remarkable week this could be for you in terms of cosmic activity in your chart. Not only will the Sun be entering your sign as we celebrate the Capricorn ingress or Winter Solstice. But your ruler Saturn also makes its way into your sign this week. And you haven’t experienced this since the late eighties or early nineties. So it’s really special. And you should capitalise on it by promising yourself that you’ll tidy up all those areas which have become a little bit messy and disorganised. And as far as your reputation or image might be concerned, you should make sure that people realise just how responsible you can be when faced with something unusually challenging or demanding. Colleagues, peers and employers should be impressed with what they are about to see.
AQUARIUS Jan 21 - Feb 19
Refuse to let any inflated stories or near-hysterical accounts of developments in the workplace knock you off-course. There may be gossip doing the rounds which suggests that developments affecting your career or financial situation could be about to go against you. And you have to keep reminding yourself that you’ve got Jupiter at the highest point of your chart forming a sharp link with the Sun. So no wonder you feel you’re in the spotlight as one or two troublemakers or incompetents blow up certain facts and figures out of all proportion. And you must step back and show that you’re simply not going to get involved with a lot of rumours and hearsay. People need to see how grounded you can be when others are causing trouble quite unnecessarily.
PISCES Feb 20 - Mar 20
As you reflect on events of the past two or three weeks or so you’ll no doubt realise that you have experienced a few ups and downs emotionally, personally or professionally. And the good news is that this period will soon be over as Mercury grinds to a halt at the weekend and changes direction. Mercury has of course been retrograde or appearing to travel backwards since 3 December. And this has been especially disruptive for you because this fast-moving little planet has been dancing around at the very highest point of your chart. So it’s been hard to know whether you’re about to leap forwards or be forced to take what seems to you to be a step backwards. Don’t panic. Whatever news or information comes your way this week will provide important learning.
