Peter's Career Horoscopes (week beginning 18th September)

Your career horoscope for the week commencing 18th September by Peter Watson.

ARIES Mar 21 - Apr 20
With Mercury forming an attachment to Pluto, which is hovering over a very potent point in your chart, you’re likely to feel driven and extremely keen to get a lot of work done and out of the way.  Not only that but you might also decide that those less conscientious than yourself could benefit from being set an example.  And you could make the dire mistake of blowing your own trumpet and broadcasting the fact that you’re doing a tremendous amount – and you’re wondering why nobody else seems to be as active and dedicated to the cause as you are.  This will not go down well.  So don’t let Mercury persuade you that you need to spread the word with regard to your own achievements.  Better to let everyone find out for themselves.

TAURUS Apr 21 – May 21
As you’re expected to collaborate with others in order to accomplish quite a lot within a professional or financial framework, you’ll be aware of a need to stick to rules and conventions.  And that should be fine, especially as you’re being influenced by Saturn wrestling with Mercury.  It will be good for the other people involved to know that you and they might be working towards the same goals and you perhaps have the same principles and ethics in mind as you head for the outcomes you and they hope to achieve.  However, one particular individual may suggest you cut corners or skip one or two stages of a rather laborious process in order to save time.  This is when you must let Saturn remind you this could be the thin end of the wedge.

GEMINI May 22 - Jun 21
Initially you might be tempted to go along with one or two fast-talking individuals who can spin a line.  They’ll know how to capture your attention and set you thinking about ambitious plans or schemes which, according to them, can be made to work wonderfully well – and in record time – if you let them show you how.  However your sixth sense will warn you that this all sounds too good to be true.  You’re feeling the earliest effects of Mercury clashing with Neptune and this will set you thinking about the difference between fantasy and reality.  On the surface everything might look lovely and simple.  But deep down you’ll feel very strongly that you can’t afford to go along with these individuals whose work ethic is a million miles away from your own.

CANCER Jun 22 - Jul 23
The prospect of tackling an on-going piece of work or area of responsibility in a way that’s different, new and unorthodox might sometimes appeal to you.  But with Saturn in the most conscientious section of your chart one or two people will notice that you’re reluctant to take chances.  Certainly with Saturn involved in this way you tend to steer clear of anything ingenious and daring, perhaps even revolutionary.  And you must also remember that Mercury’s squaring up to Saturn as if to remind you that for anything to be an unqualified success it has to be solid, reliable and at least pay for itself – and hopefully bring in a profit too.  If you do your sums carefully you might find that you could be in danger of embarking on something that’s not really viable.

LEO Jul 24 - Aug 23
Much as you might be willing to invest in a particular idea, you may be in danger of trying to cut corners because you’ll be impatient to see the results.  This is where the New Moon in Virgo comes to your rescue as it reminds you that on occasions in the past you’ve been too hasty to bring a piece of work to its conclusion before time.  And not long afterwards you’ve seen the odd crack of flaw appear and you’ve wished you’d gone about things in a more structured way.  You like to achieve outcomes.  And that’s fine.  But you need to go back to a time when you were in less of a hurry.  Are you trying to accomplish far too much, each and every working day?  Think about it.

VIRGO Aug 24 - Sep 23
Your finances might be about to be given a boost but some important individuals won’t be quite as interested in you and your achievements as they once were.  Or is that purely your imagination?  It’s hard to know.  As the Sun makes its way into Libra it will be making things a little more healthy and robust in terms of anything money-related.  And that of course is a good thing as far as you’re concerned.  What you mustn’t do is let this provide you with the excuse to be over-critical of yourself and over-anxious about the fact that certain fairly powerful people haven’t had quite as much to do with you in the past few days as they did a week or two ago.  That’s just the way things go.  Don’t let paranoia seep in.

LIBRA Sep 24 - Oct 23
There’s a part of you that would like nothing more than to explore unfamiliar territory and bring new and exciting ways of working to an area in which conventional and structured methods are the order of the day.  Certainly with Neptune having a great deal of influence on your day-to-day responsibilities you must wonder at times whether you’ll ever be able to break out and bring more creativity and inventiveness into whatever you’re doing.  The fact that Neptune is being opposed by Mars this week suggests that this would be quite the wrong time for you to try to ring the changes or do anything dramatic and unorthodox.  Almost certainly, with Mars involved you’re likely to incite some of those around you into telling you that your timing couldn’t be more wrong.  Listen to them.

SCORPIO Oct 24 - Nov 22
A brilliant idea might occur to you over the next few days, quite out of the blue.  And it will leave you wondering whether you could transform an area of your regular work or your daily duties in a way that will benefit not just you but everybody else concerned. Venus linking up with Uranus means you’ll begin to entertain a plan or scheme that’s not only extremely inventive and ground-breaking but it will appear to have a lot of logic to it.  And that’s what will convince you that it’s worth pursuing.  Even so you have to accept the fact that some people involved might need further convincing that the surprising news you are giving them can be taken seriously.  Start talking them around to your way of thinking – as soon as you can.

SAGITTARIUS Nov 23 - Dec 21
Although you’re not someone who has been complaining bitterly about your work or the amount that’s loaded on to your shoulders, you might have secretly been hoping for a change to take place.  The New Moon suggests that you’ll be extremely receptive to hints and whispers suggesting that people in authority are working on plans to shake things up and encourage an attitude of exploration and inventiveness.  You’ll be up for all of that because of the way this New Moon is beginning to convince you that a new beginning is long overdue.  It needn’t necessarily mean a change of location or vocation.  But in some way, no matter how small, you’ll find your batteries being recharged as you engage with some new and different thinking.  And how refreshing that will be.

CAPRICORN Dec 22 - Jan 20
It might seem that recently you’ve been forced to support other people in their attempts to tidy up their lives in some way, possibly with regard to professional, marital or financial difficulties.  And that’s fine except that it almost certainly means that you’ve had to neglect aspects of your career or on-going commitments for a while.  Be encouraged by the way in which the Sun moves into Libra at the end of the week.  It’s the beginning of a new phase in your life during which you need feel no shame or guilt about putting yourself first.  You deserve to get back on a path that should one day lead you to wherever it is you want to be in terms of your profession or some other important area of your life.

AQUARIUS Jan 21 - Feb 19
Time and again you’ve fretted and frowned about a shared responsibility or a venture which requires you and somebody else to be totally committed to it if it’s to be made to work.  And you’ve wondered why you’ve found it so difficult.  This week, however, you’ll experience some sort of breakthrough as you begin to realise that you’ve probably allowed the other person concerned to make most if not all of the decisions.  You’ve deferred to the experience and know-how of this individual who can sometimes make you feel that you should follow rather than assume the lead.  And that may be where things have gone wrong.  So let the New Moon in Virgo teach you that any sort of partnership, team or group activity flourishes if equality and fairness are acknowledged as vital factors.

PISCES Feb 20 - Mar 20
Dig your heels in and force colleagues, companions and perhaps even employers to admit that some of your latest ideas are far more exciting and worthwhile than anything dreamed up by most of the other people involved. This isn’t about being arrogant or trying to manipulate everybody into agreeing that you deserve more money or should be given a promotion.  But as you look back over the past few weeks and months you’ll see that what you have been contributing has made a tremendous difference to the way in which one particular set-up has progressed.  And now that Venus is forming an optimistic link with Uranus you probably do feel like giving others a bit of a shake-up while insisting that they acknowledge the value you add to whatever you and they are doing together.
