Cosmic Weather Forecast (May)
The Cosmic Weather: Astrology Forecast for May 2011 by Jane Lyle
The merry month of May begins with April’s fiery themes, but by mid-month earthier energies take over as Mars, Venus and Mercury move into Taurus. Taurus is as stubborn as Aries, but more inclined to consolidate projects. Basically - get things started early, and plan to nurture them later on this month.
1st May: Will this be a magical May Day, celebrating the joys of spring? Mars and Jupiter join fiery forces, bringing an exuberant bonfire of go-for-it energies to the party. Possibly too exuberant and reckless, dwarf planet Eris is still in the mix too. And she seems to signify more t han a little disru ption. Both sporty and spiritual projects are strongly highlighted. But legal restrictions, rules and regulations stifle some of us. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius – there’s no stopping you today!
2nd May: Pushing forward? Yes indeed, but it’s a rocky road for some of us.
3rd May: Practical creativity brings fulfilment. Turning ideas into something real works well today and tomorrow. Music, cooking and gardening projects shine. There’s a new Moon in Taurus to inspire you, and more in the Moon Diary, as always.
5th May: With a little emotional intelligence and flexibility, much can be achieved now.
7th May: Public opinion versus established power, and eruptions of emotion are likely themes today. Positive things can emerge from the turmoil though. Eventually.
8th May: Mercury emerges from the shadowlands. Communications and transport speed up, clarify, and move forward at last into the summer months. The next retrograde phase begins on 3rd August.
9th May: Mercury and Venus embrace in Aries. Impulsive words of love are spoken, romantic pursuits are favoured. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius sparkle with charm.
11th May: Flamboyant, exotic, glamorous vibes flow, favouring mesmerising public appearances and charismatic women. A day for positive thinking at the very least, for generosity, and for taking a chance on love.
Mars enters steady, earthy Taurus today. Dig for Victory!
13th May: Friday the Thirteenth. Perhaps not exactly lucky, but potentially productive for some of us. Healthcare and the hotels industry are in focus. Swimming or long baths are especially relaxing today. It’s a good excuse anyway.
15th May: Venus enters her home sign of Taurus, where she smiles upon sweet cakes, orchards, gardens, perfumes and sensual pleasures. Mercury also enters Taurus today. Practical solutions and pragmatic discussions work better this month than too many possible plans or ideas flying about. We’ve had enough hot air.
16th May: Simply bewitching. Particularly if your birthday falls in early Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio. Music, art and poetry are especially moving or memorable.
17th May: The full Moon rises in Scorpio, bringing high tides to our seas and turbulence to our emotions too. You can read more about this in the Moon Diary.
20th May: Potent, forceful energies ignore anything superficial and plunge deep into the depths. The atmosphere today and tomorrow favours detectives, spies, miners, deep-sea divers, archaeologists and military strategists.
21st May: The Sun enters the communicative mutable air sign, Gemini, today. This lightens things up a little, but Mars, Venus, and Mercury still travel through earthy, stubborn Taurus, plus Pluto is in equally earthy Capricorn. Practicality rules. Love could be intense and erotic for some.
22nd May: Oh, but there are some silver-tongued charlatans out there today! Question deals and contracts, take it easy on that first date….
23rd May: Venus and Mars embrace in Taurus. Delicious food and scented oils win the day. Tricky time for legal or political negotiations and debates though.
24th May: Some of us hear angelic melodies in our dreams. Some of us will not know where the day went. Others feel the need to make some final decisions around finances or marriage.
25th May: Nobody is going to budge from their chosen point of view. Wait a while if you’re trying to reach an agreement.
26th May: When things seem stuck between a rock and a hard place, something’s got to give. The solution to dilemmas may not be obvious yet. The partial solar eclipse on the first of June approaches, energies build, and the earth shifts.
28th May: The most unlikely people can find ways to help each other, or begin to see that their goals are not as different as they had initially assumed.
30th May: If you’re determined to sort something out, but it’s proving to be difficult, just keep going and keep on looking at all the options too.
31st May: It’s the day before the Gemini new Moon, which will be a partial solar eclipse too. All eclipses belong to a series, called the Saros Series. Each series has a particular character. According to astrologer Bernadette Brady this series is very meaningful for Australia, its people, politics and events there. It represents ‘a striving for group endeavours, in a positive or negative fashion.’
A restless, charged atmosphere means that it would be a good time to take a little time out in order to think about what messages you’re sending out, and what you would like to communicate to others. There’ll be more in the Moon Diary.
Jupiter is reaching the end of its journey through Aries. It will enter Taurus in early June. Good news for Taureans, Virgos and Capricorns. Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio might be pleased too. If you have important planets or angles in these signs, that means you, too.
