Saturn, which is the planet of order, discipline, time and restrictions, is often given a bad press.   Actually, it can enhance our lives enormously by encouraging us to take a more organised approach to those areas we consider to be most important to us.  On 29th October  Saturn is moving into Libra, which is the sign of balance and the one that emphasises our need to remain in touch with our true values.  The last time Saturn was in this section of your chart was in the summer of 1983.  It might be interesting to reflect on what you were doing then - if you were around at the time -  and how much you and your life have changed.  With Saturn travelling through Libra until October 2012, we all have a period of three years or so during which to reassess and rethink ideals and principles and the ways in which we relate to one another and function in the world in general.   Here is a sign-by-sign guide to the impact which Saturn’s move into Libra is likely to have on you.

ARIES   Mar 21 - Apr 20

With Saturn moving into Libra you will find yourself slamming on the brakes and making sure that even when life is at its most exciting, you still value the importance of your image, reputation and output.  And that will mean a lot.  Let’s not forget that for the next three years or so Saturn will be making its way through the section of your chart that governs affairs of the heart and the way in which you relate to those people you love.  What you won’t want to do is to find yourself getting so caught up in relational issues that you are seen to fail within areas in which you are meant to be at your most competent.  Saturn’s move means  that it’s leaving a particularly hard-working, productive section of your chart.  Surely you can achieve the right mix of industriousness and light-heartedness, can’t you?  Try hard.



TAURUS  Apr 21 - May 21

Saturn is entering Libra, the sign that governs your ability to be focussed and hard-working.  This means you’ll have Saturn on your side when you admit  that you need to wrestle with projects that you have been skirting around for too long.  You don’t like to think of yourself as being airy-fairy.  Yours is after all the only fixed earth sign of the zodiac.   So you are all about feeling grounded and structured in your thinking.   But even this doesn’t mean you jump to it immediately whenever laborious, everyday disciplines need tending to.   Like everybody else, you come up with excuses as to why you should delay - and focus on something more enjoyable. With Saturn in Libra you are going to wake up to the fact that it’s better to get outstanding tasks and duties out of the way so that you clear the decks for more fun stuff. 



GEMINI  May 22 - Jun 21

When Saturn moves into the very even-handed sign of Libra during October, it will be bringing more structure and discipline into an area in which you’re sometimes seen to be quite unconventional and free-thinking.   All of a sudden you’re likely to be the one who can take a very logical and commonsensical approach to developments that somebody else sees as threatening, perhaps even treacherous or dangerous.  And rather than worry that this is all about to cramp your style or inhibit your natural liveliness, you should think of the advantages in becoming more pragmatic than you’ve been for some while.   This will provide extra benefits in that you are about to go through a phase when you will be much better off if you are harnessing your exuberance and originality and putting it to good use within territory which sometimes brings out your wilder side.   Enjoy the pay-off.  



CANCER   Jun 22 - Jul 23

Now that Saturn is entering Libra we are talking about the section of your chart that governs the home environment, your roots and the way in which you relate to the people you love most.  Yours is the sign that is associated with the family, mothering, nurturing and the domestic scene - so much of which  is going to feel second nature to you.  Enjoy everything you do. But also remember that Saturn can encourage you to become so strict with yourself about spending and allowing yourself some time off that you might earn the reputation of being mean and miserly.  Remember, life is for living - and don’t fall into the trap of thinking you’ve got to do everything on a strict budget or become a servant to duty and commitments without ever allowing sunshine, love and laughter into your life.  These are very necessary to someone like you.



LEO   Jul 24 - Aug 23  

Don't worry that your wings are about to be clipped.  It will suit you in some ways because when Saturn enters Libra on 29th October, you will realise that there are some areas in which you need to establish boundaries, no-go areas and time limits.   If you can stop being quite so flexible with everyone around you and more structured when it comes to how much you've got to do and what amount of time you've got to do it in, your life will become more orderly.  As a result you are likely to become happier and more relaxed, especially when it comes to the way in which you communicate with people who’ve never been sure whether they can rely on you to be there for them when they need it most.   They’re about to be given the reassurance they want as they find out more about the real you.



VIRGO  Aug 24 - Sep 23

Try not to under-estimate the potency of Saturn’s move out of your sign and into Libra on 29th October.   But don’t feel threatened by it.  You are about to feel all your organisational skills bubbling to the surface.  And you’ll be forced to admit that you probably have allowed certain admin, book-keeping or areas of communication to become a little bit chaotic.  Be glad that Saturn is going to remind you of how much better you feel when you get these important areas of your life in order. You should also begin to appreciate the wisdom and advice of those people who would like to see you investing your money or other resources in a way that guarantees worthwhile returns.   No-one’s expecting you to become penny-pinching but this probably is a good opportunity for you to ensure that, money-wise, your house really is in order.



LIBRA  Sep 24 - Oct 23

Be reassured that Saturn’s move into your sign on 29th October means you’ll be going about things in a more organised, practical and sensible way.  But not everything you do will become pedestrian or too strictly controlled.  Yes, Saturn does get a bad press from certain quarters in that it is often associated with everything that’s dry, dusty, sober and uninspiring.    But there’s more to this fascinating planet than that.  When it’s making its way through your sign Saturn can  help you adhere to guidelines, strategies and ways of working that have been proven to be productive and efficient.  It does seem that you’re about to go through a phase during which you’ll start heading for more efficiency and more pleasing outcomes.  You are about to measure up against those who have for some while thought that they were head and shoulders above you.  And they're not, are they?



SCORPIO  Oct 24 - Nov 22

How nice to think that with Saturn in the most sensitive and vulnerable section of your chart from late October, you're going to be able to fight those demons that sometimes persuade you that you can't strive to be one of the high-flyers.  You can. And you're not going to let any age-old fears and concerns hold you back, are you?  Nor should you ignore a sixth sense which will steer you towards people, places and situations with the potential to enable you to prove yourself.  It is a pity that you sometimes hold back and you try to deny yourself the right to expand your thinking and broaden your horizons because you assume it’s your duty to remain where you are, doing what you’ve always done.   Let Saturn’s change of signs help you differentiate once between genuine rules and restrictions and those that are of your own making. 



SAGITTARIUS  Nov 23 - Dec 21

You need to spread your wings.  And there may be those who think that once you are given a taste of freedom you won't want to go back to a situation that has kept you busy up until now. But these people have to bear in mind that Saturn is moving into the very reasonable and logical sign of Libra as the month of October comes to a close.  And it will directly affect you and your chart in a way that would suggest that you're going to find ways to do what suits you while also considering very carefully the feelings of those who are closest to you.  So it does look as though a great deal will be changed, and  a lot will be achieved, but when it happens, you'll make it all as pleasant as possible for yourself and for whoever else is closely involved with you.



CAPRICORN  Dec 22 - Jan 20

Console yourself with the fact that your ruler Saturn is moving into Libra and therefore taking up a position in the most important and visible section of your chart at the end of October. This means you can be sure that when it comes to anything major in terms of your profession, image or earnings, you are almost certainly going to be courageous.  But you will know when to stop just this side of anything too risky.  And that's how it should be.   You’ll also be aware that those people who perceive you as being a figure of authority, a leader or a role model do need to see you at your most impressive.  But that doesn’t mean that you have to abandon any flair, originality or creativity you are inclined to bring into situations where they’re needed most.   These are qualities which some people see as your trademark. 



AQUARIUS  Jan 21 - Feb 19

Remind yourself every now and again that with Saturn moving into Libra you are not going to go too far, push yourself too hard or make moves which aren't right for you.  You can afford to be more relaxed as you ring the changes, explore new territory and involve yourself with the type of people you haven't had a great deal to do with up until now.  You sometimes get it into your head that people making comments about the way you operate are being critical.  But very often they are simply trying to give you a few pointers as to ways in which they think you might want to try tackling certain situations.  Saturn’s influence might be what you need to encourage you to listen to exactly what certain people are saying and be very sure that you are interpreting to the letter whatever they are trying to suggest.



PISCES  Feb 20 - Mar 20

Remember that as Saturn changes signs on 29th October, you could be at the start of a phase during which you’ll begin to realise how much more profitable or pleasing a particular set-up could be if certain aspects of it were well and truly in place.   You see there’s likely to be an offer, proposal or suggestion coming your way which will sound inspiring and exciting because of the means by which it’s described to you.  But it’s not until Saturn begins its journey through Libra that you’ll begin to see that there has to be some kind of formal arrangement or deal struck between yourself and somebody with whom you could very well achieve a lot that is of great benefit to you both.   Saturn is reminding you that none of it can be done in an airy-fairy way.   Boundaries, guidelines and mutual consent are vital factors.
