ARIES

Thinking about what’s not working for you? You’re not alone.  Partners in love or business are likely to challenge your commitment, or demand some kind of review during the first two weeks of August. Now, some of this isn’t exactly a surprise because you’ve probably been wondering about certain connections for quite a while. What surfaced in June is important - your inspirations, intuitions, and conversations then may hold the key to the next six months or so. Don’t get too frustrated if events don’t unfold quite as you’d like. Learning to negotiate now saves any relationships worth saving, particularly around the 8th. Avoid splashing out too much time, money, or energy on anything and steer a steady course if you can.

TAURUS

Venus, your ruler, forms an odd relationship with Neptune in early August. And this, along with other potent aspects, suggests you should hang on to your hat and tread carefully when it comes to cash, practical projects, and career moves. Your mind is active and creative with Mercury in Virgo, and even its backtracking phase (20th August to 12th September) should help you fine-tune projects or dust off neglected plans.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn in Libra mean that routines and well-being matter more than usual this month.  This includes habitual ways of seeing the world around you, ways of working, or even the colours you wear and image you like to present. Uranus in Pisces from the 14th (until next March) encourages you to move forwards on shared projects and embrace your inner being. That’s enough to be getting on with isn’t it?

GEMINI

Mercury, your energy source, reverses its path from 20th August to 12th September in Virgo, the sign linked to your home, roots, and inner being. Your mind and your travel plans could seem like scrambled eggs from time to time, particularly as Venus in Libra encourages you to get creative, spend money, and flirt with strangers this month. You could be oddly attracted to Capricorns, or believe you’ve met the perfect Libran soul-mate around the 9th August. And this could well be true. Although Capricorns may eventually prove to be very hard work and need more advice than you’re willing to offer. Saturn is now fully at home in Libra, where it will bring an air of restraint to your wilder excesses.  It should, however, encourage you to focus your energy on achieving something solid. Whether that’s a marriage, a business, or a hefty novel is up to you.

CANCER

August is another pivotal month for you, as the planets continue to emphasise cardinal signs like yours. Your sensitivity surfaces in dreams, and you may feel the need to connect with nature, or stand and stare at the sea. There are changes that you are unable to control, as should be obvious by the 7th when the Moon, your ruler, is in Cancer and you’re faced with some kind of challenge or restriction. What seems to come from nowhere has, in fact, been brewing for some time. You’ll enjoy a sense of freedom or relief around the 9th, when beauty and philosophy are there to comfort and entertain you. Uranus reverses in Pisces from the 14th until next year, so grab this final opportunity to expand your world through travel, study or creative endeavours during this period. A full Moon in Pisces on the 24th illuminates your plans.

LEO

Your neighbourhood pulses with potential this August, offering you flirty distractions from hard work and stubborn individuals. Friendly inspiration of all kinds is on offer as Mars and Venus accompany one another through Libra for most of this month. What disappoints you early in the month fades to insignificance after the Leo new Moon on the 10th. And even though there are genuine dramas unfolding all around you, and some gritty financial issues to confront, you should be in a sunny mood more often than not. The Leo Sun opposes misty Neptune from the 18th to the 21st. You’ll enjoy the psychic flashes and poetic moods, but lock away your cash unless you want to squander it. The same advice applies to sudden romance - have fun but hold off on handing over your heart on a silver platter.

VIRGO

Much stirs beneath the surface of your mind with Mercury, your ruler, in Virgo, and subversive Uranus returning to changeable Pisces for the last time on the 14th - until March 2011.  Ideas flit across your mental screen like schools of fish. And this is particularly true if you allow yourself to relax and see what creative notions you’ve ignored or suppressed during Saturn’s transit of Virgo this past couple of years.  It has been, for most of you, a hard-working time. Some of you have been coping with loss of a beloved person, a relationship, or of your own self-confidence. You’re brilliant with restrictions, but enough already. Now you can reassess your inner values, and plan to do something that truly reflects your vision and creativity. Whether this means true love or achievement, now’s the time to think seriously about new beginnings.

LIBRA

September-born Librans feel the urge to pare down, shape up, or generally deal with what’s essential as Saturn begins his journey through your sign. October birthdays - the first ten days or so - begin their Saturn experience this autumn. All of you are favoured by sweet Venus in Libra travelling alongside Mars for most of August, gifting you with delicious glimpses of all things sweet and fluffy, especially around the 20th.  However, as you have probably realised by now, there’s an amazing amount of activity in the cardinal realms and this means that you’re under pressure. You must take care of yourself, particularly at the beginning of August. You can use this energy to achieve treasured aims, to make outstanding plans, and to create harmony eventually. It will not be easy, but with hard work you can begin to make things happen. Really.

SCORPIO

Are you plagued by demanding people? Then it’s time to tell them, politely, to go away and bother someone else. No need to be paranoid, but planets in Libra suggest people with selfish agendas and smiling faces. You’ll want to concentrate on your plans, and factor in plenty of time to deal with delays and confusion.  You’re moving into a new phase, and it will take a while before things are just as you like them to be at home, and at work. Hidden love and fantasies are another August theme. You may nurse a secret crush, a hot infatuation, or be embroiled in a steamy secret love affair. Who knows? You are a mysterious creature at the best of times. Flaming passions pack a punch in early August, and bewilder you later in the month. Come September you’ll have Venus and Mars on your side. Remember, everything comes to he who waits. Or she, obviously……

SAGITTARIUS

Your ruling planet, Jupiter, travels backwards in Aries, giving you a chance to reconsider something important. After August 20th, when Mercury will also backtrack, there’ll be five planets looking over their shoulders and encouraging reviews of the past, and a little sifting through the archives. Since this is also a time for planning new beginnings, your scintillating philosophical abilities will serve you well as you show everyone else the enduring value of flexible thinking. Take what’s wonderful from the past, and make room for something innovative and new too. Friends and lovers can help, inspire or entertain you all month long. And singles may find friendship sliding into love, particularly if you’ve been collaborating on a project together, or sharing a joint fascination or group activity.

CAPRICORN

Your career is still rocking and rolling, with much responsibility and pressure surrounding you. For some, this is energising and thrilling. For others it is all beginning to feel rather burdensome. Much is likely to peak in August, and there could be partings or big decisions to take this month. You have many admirers, as Venus in Libra will reveal. And with your own ruler, Saturn - exalted in Libra - also on your side you will emerge victorious sooner or later. But certain things may have to go, and if you think about it, you do already know what those might be. Take advantage of Uranus in Pisces from 14th August until next March to network, make new friends, or spread your wings a little. Time spent thinking and planning now will not be wasted. Come September you’ll be ready to surprise everybody.

AQUARIUS

A sizeable part of your personality is cerebral, and you crave knowledge and information in the way other people crave great big tubs of ice-cream. This August’s Libran line-up suggest that it’s a great time to sign up for a course, or find some way of expanding wisdom or developing your skills. Saturn rules Aquarius, along with Uranus, and will be in Libra for the next two years, making education or whatever an ongoing theme for you. Romance, too, could link up with exploring ideas or even places. Love in the library? Yes, that’s the kind of thing.  Meanwhile, retrograde Mercury from the 20th, along with other rewinding planets, advises you to double-check details and think carefully about ethics, values, and resources. Give yourself time to think and there’s no telling what you’ll come up with.

PISCES

Planets in water signs are, currently, in short supply. So you could feel like a fish out of water sometimes. But Uranus reverses into Pisces on the 14th, nudging your memory, and encouraging you to remember those fantastic ideas you had a while ago. Whether it’s romance, a project, or a plan for your home you’ve now got a second opportunity to make it happen. By early autumn you’ll be supported by Venus and Mars in Scorpio, making August the perfect month for plans and explorations. A Pisces full Moon on the 24th intensifies emotions, but also shows you what matters and what doesn’t suit you. Anyone who isn’t in tune with your beliefs and heartfelt visions must take a back seat now. Gathering like-minded souls around you not only feels good, but helps you prepare for what promises to be an audacious autumn.
