You Are Who You Are

{jcomments off}Hi Eva,
Love your column - As a transvestite I have been dressing more and more lately for days on end.

I have been since 7 years old, but now it is really intense! I am spending days dressed as I want to be, bought new outfits, even started going out for walks. I do not do it for a thrill, I just feel more comfortable, settled and normal (whatever that is!) when I am in my female role, and a nicer person too. I am considering finally telling my friends and moving things forward ( I did tell my parents a few years back - I did not tell them how being female fills my thoughts all the time! I am spending more time as Siobhan and a lot less as my male self as I do not like that side of me, even though he is popular and sociable, the male side is just not me!! Can you shed any light on whether it is time to move forward and face the world as I wish to face it?

You are who you are. Don't try and be something you're not. Never mind about other peoples opinions, you have let this go on for far too long and its time that you were yourself.  There are many many people in your same situation.  There are help lines and organisastions but my advice is be yourself and not what other people want you to be.

Dear Eva,
Thank you for your consider reply. I appreciate the time you took to read my message! I have already contacted other groups and been out and my social circle has grown immensely. You are so right about it going on too long, I am ready to be myself and that is as Siobhan.
It will be difficult but thank you so much.
