How Will Pluto's Move Affect You?
It’s no exaggeration to say that from January 26th onwards we shall all, very gradually, begin to experience the effects of a cosmic shift that’s totally unlike anything we’ve known before. This is of course the move being made by powerful Pluto as it leaves Sagittarius and ingresses into the determined and disciplined sign of Capricorn.
Being the most distant planet of our solar system, Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the Sun - and to make its way through the twelve signs of the zodiac. The number of years spent in each sign varies, depending upon its proximity to the Sun. For the past twelve and a half years for example Pluto has been making its way through Sagittarius (think in terms of mass migration, religious fundamentalism, multiple access to low cost flying). And now with Pluto in Capricorn for the next 16 years or so – until 2024 – we should expect the focus to shift towards restructuring of financial, governmental, business, housing, management and military organisations.
Of course this won’t all happen overnight. In fact, Pluto creates something of a false start as it moves backwards, or retrogrades, into Sagittarius in June 2008, returning to Capricorn in November to continue its forward path through this most conscientious and determined sign of the zodiac. Nor must we underestimate the element of secrecy often attached to Pluto. We are likely to hear of discoveries made in terms of covert operations and organisations such as the secret service. Much-discussed nuclear energy will also become an accepted part of everyday life under the influence of Pluto the planet of transformation. And as individuals, many of us will tap into our own buried rage with regard to our intensely personal lives.
Collectively, we will also find ourselves railing against aspects of authority we consider undemocratic to the point of being restrictive. For example, we can expect the debate about ID cards to run and run. But we are also likely to learn over the next sixteen years or so the true worth of digging deep to examine and disclose innermost thoughts and feelings which we’ve become accustomed to denying.
A period of transformation is about to commence. What does it mean for you, depending on the zodiac sign under which you were born?
ARIES (March 21-April 20)
You've never had Pluto at the highest point of your chart before. Just see how, after the 26th January, with Pluto crossing your midheaven point, you gradually become much more aware of not just your strengths but your power to influence important people. And it's going to be to their good as well as yours.
Remember, too, you won't want to get hidebound by a lot of theory, rules and regulations about how you and the person you're closest to should treat one another. Your instincts will tell you what's right and what's wrong, especially as you’ll feel inclined to dig deep and work out how you really feel about a certain individual in your life right now. A little more self-honesty and transparency could be a wonderful thing for you at this age and stage of your life.
TAURUS April 21 – May 21
For the first time ever, you’re about to experience what it’s like to have Pluto in the section of your chart that's all about travel, education, spirituality and the higher mind.
This could be the point at which you take the first tentative steps towards a situation that should eventually lead you to something better in terms of your work, your career, your financial status - and possibly your intellectual or academic achievements.
Just don't try to do everything too quickly. Remember, you are the sort of person who needs to know that anything you are producing has to be built on solid foundations. And it's time for you to put in place some very firm underpinning before you move on to a plan or deal that could change things for you fundamentally.
GEMINI May 22 – June 21
Pluto in Capricorn is likely to bring to the surface a talent you have for financial, professional, legal or intellectual pursuits. You just have to make sure you don't come across as too full of yourself as you show you intend to enjoy life to the full while making the most of whatever assets you have.
Think about what you and a partner or loved one have to offer, not just one another but the world in general. Consider pooling your resources and letting Pluto help you concentrate on putting joint effort and elbow grease into a plan you've considered embarking on for a while.
Hopefully, you can stand shoulder to shoulder with somebody else and, facing the same direction, let the world see that you intend to move forwards in step and with the same positive pursuits in mind.
CANCER June 22 – July 23
From 26th January you will begin to feel rather different from the way you usually feel. So be prepared for new experiences and a greater understanding of why it is that you and someone special can be so close to one another - and yet still bicker, argue and occasionally drive one another mad.
Remember you have the power to speak to whoever else is concerned and put forward an argument for discussing the way in which situations sometimes come between you and the person you love. What might also happen is that the two of you begin to accept that it's part of life, and it has a great deal to do with the way in which you tend to handle all manner of relational issues. Is there room for improvement? It could be good for everybody involved.
LEO July 24 – August 23
Pluto’s move into Capricorn is really big stuff. We're talking about the section of your chart that is connected to not just your everyday work and responsibilities but also the way in which you take care of yourself. And it seems you can afford to let yourself off the hook rather more often than you've been doing recently.
Pluto is about digging deep and bringing to the surface resources that might have been buried for too long. You have one or two talents that you haven't really capitalised on up until now. Tap into them and many aspects of your routine and working life could be easier, more pleasant and actually more successful.
Try to get more joy out of things that you do and which you sometimes allow to weigh too heavily on you. You're doing fine.
VIRGO August 24 – September 23
With Pluto moving into Capricorn you’ll be urged to pay even more attention to some sort of romance or venture that will mean you'll be closer than ever to someone rather special.
This happens from the end of January onwards. And it's going to open up a period in your life during which you'll realise you haven't felt this way before.
You've never known what it's like to have Pluto in Capricorn. None of us has. And in the case of your solar chart it means we’re talking about a very poetic, romantic, escapist area.
So please get done what needs to be done on a practical or professional level. But remember you are heading towards experiences that are going to lift your heart in a way that hasn't happened for a long, long while – if ever before.
LIBRA September 24 – October 23
Pluto in Capricorn is having a direct affect on the section of your chart relating to your home and family life. You’ll begin to feel excited about what is likely to unfold, while also being confident and eager to get on with something new and challenging.
But you'll also know that much of your strength lies in your ability to double-check important facts and figures as you go along. And to know when to follow an instinct telling you it's time to be more cautious and less hot-headed.
By going with a gut instinct every now and again you are likely to avoid threatening situations. Hopefully you'll have a sense of them heading your way before they're close enough to do any damage. It's all about letting your intuition play its vital role in your day-to-day life.
SCORPIO October 24 – November 22
Let the fact that Venus is moving into Capricorn on 24th January act as a precursor to the stupendous move being made by Pluto a couple of days later when it too makes its way into Capricorn. Of course the reason this is so significant is that Pluto hasn't been in Capricorn before in our lifetime.
So you don't know how it feels to have Pluto, this powerful planet, making its way through this very conscientious, determined sign. In your case, we’re talking about the section of your chart that governs communications, people you see on an everyday basis, short-distance travel, thinking and planning strategies. Does it feel as though you might be about to impress important people with all the skills and acumen you've accumulated recently? It's worth considering, isn't it?
SAGITTARIUS November 23 – December 21
Pluto is leaving your sign where it's been since 1995. And as it goes into Capricorn it's encouraging you to raise the bar in terms of your talents. One or two that you haven't been selling properly, maybe. Or you've underused. A gift you have for a particular kind of work or way of life, perhaps.
Trust the fact that with Pluto on your side you can persuade the people you're dealing with that yours is the kind of input that has to be taken seriously.
And don’t be put off by those who might think that, if you are trying to convince them you could be an asset within a set-up for which they are responsible, then you should be put to the test immediately.
Why feel frightened at the mention of it? You’re likely to do brilliantly!
CAPRICORN December 22 – January 20
Pluto’s entry into your sign is major stuff. Pluto is a very powerful planet and the last time it entered your sign was in the 1760s.
It doesn't mean everything is going to change overnight. But you must accept that you probably have been blaming somebody or something else for the fact that a number of things haven't gone quite your way recently. Or perhaps it's something from a few years ago that you weren't able to access or make work in the way that you wanted it to.
Pluto will encourage you to take a close look at any grudges you bear. And actually take responsibility for things which you probably could have done something about.
With Pluto in your sign you have to accept that you should by now have everything at your fingertips to ensure that you achieve what you want and you go back over old ground and repeat processes that weren't quite right a few months or even years ago.
Of course we can't spend all our time looking back. We have to continue to look forward. And Pluto is reminding you that you have an enormous amount to look forward to. You’ll soon be in a much more positive and optimistic frame of mind. And you certainly won't be in the mood to take no for an answer when people are approached to help or co-operate with you.
AQUARIUS January 21 – February 19
Pluto making its way into Capricorn means you will be feeling determined that worries, doubts and fears that have been hanging around for too long have to be disposed of.
Obviously if there is something that is bothering you and it can't be just shrugged off, then you have to grapple with it, sort it out and then move on. You can't pretend all's well if it's not.
But aren't there one or two things that you've allowed to get you down when they really shouldn't have the power to do that to you?
With all that's going on in a very perceptive, sensitive area of your chart you must take a stand and let everyone see you are just not going to be beaten – especially by things which, in the grand scale of things, really don't matter that much.
PISCES February 20 – March 20 – 158
Let Pluto’s move convince you that you have a right and responsibility to go all out for those things that give you a sense of purpose and make you feel good about life.
But at the same time you have to avoid letting things get out of kilter while not becoming bossy or pushy. It's all very well to be strong but you don't want to be so strong that you crush those around you. Or you crush their egos and you take all the fun out of everything for them.
So know when to back off and let others have their say. But it's even more important for you to learn to listen and to take on board what the people you're dealing with are hoping to teach you. It's important stuff.
